Where it all started... Now anyone who says when they go on their first solo trip to Bangkok and is not completely overwhelmed when they arrive is lying lol. Tip to not getting ripped off from the airport is when you come out the airport in Bangkok don't go with one of the people who is asking if you want a taxi and do not go to the first row of taxis you see once you leave the exit. If you walk to the right there are another row of taxis who have the meter on this way you know you aren't being overpriced.
My first night I had booked a hostel down the busy Khao San Road, which as you can see by the picture is crazy shop on top of shop, even my taxi driver didn't know where my hostel was he said its somewhere round here lol. luckily I managed to find it on my own, feeling so over whelmed talk about a culture shock. What am I meant to do now? I thought I will be fine I will make friends in my girls dorm, unknowingly to me that everyone in my dorm didn't speak English so there was a huge language barrier, they were all as a group so just wanted to do their own thing, little old me thought you know what i'm just going to get ready and go out on the evening and see what its all about.
My first moments walking down this busy street it was like watching a movie and nothing feeling real, bugs being cooked on the barbecue, anyone fancy a fried cockroach hmm not for me thanks... moving swiftly on, beer towers to my right, people being crazy to my left. WOW am I in the hangover? A man ran up to me saying he can read my fortune, me being gullible & the fact that I love anything spiritual follows him to his "fortune telling stand" next minute he is trying to drag me down an alley. I do a runner and then am petrified so just rush as fast as I can back to my hostel dorm, back to safety. I will deal with Bangkok tomorrow!
The next day was a bit more normal, woke up had my breakfast, made a friend went on an adventure found a travel agents where I went to to book my coach and ferry to get to Koh Phangan. OOSH let the partying begin! FULL MOON PARTY here I come! No more over whelming feeling just non stop fun from here on.
